At Movement Mechanics Osteopathy, appointments are structured to provide the most appropriate care for your presentation rather than to create ongoing dependency on treatment.
Whether you are attending for osteopathy, EMS shockwave therapy, high power laser therapy or a more complex rehabilitation presentation, treatment recommendations are guided by assessment findings, tissue irritability, recovery stage and long-term goals rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
The clinic is ACC-registered, Southern Cross Easy Claim-affiliated, and based inside Bays Health in Browns Bay on Auckland’s North Shore.
Consultation Fees
Most people attending Movement Mechanics are not simply booking “a treatment.”
They are usually trying to understand:
Why symptoms persist, why recovery has plateaued, or what the body is struggling to tolerate mechanically over time.
Initial consultations are therefore designed to allow sufficient time for proper assessment, treatment planning, and discussion of the most appropriate rehabilitation strategy moving forward.
Movement Mechanics is one of the few clinics in New Zealand integrating EMS focused shockwave therapy, radial shockwave therapy and EMS DolorClast® High Power Laser Therapy within the same rehabilitation focused environment.
These technologies are commonly integrated into tendon rehabilitation, overload injuries and musculoskeletal presentations where more conventional approaches have failed to create meaningful progression.
Shockwave therapy and laser therapy often serve different purposes within rehabilitation.
Shockwave therapy is typically most appropriate in more established tendon and overload-related conditions where tissue adaptation and mechanical resilience become important parts of recovery.
High-power laser therapy can often be integrated into both acute and chronic presentations, particularly when tissues remain highly reactive, irritated, or sensitive.
In certain cases, combining both technologies within a single rehabilitation strategy can better support recovery progression.

ACC claims can often be lodged directly through the clinic without requiring a GP referral.
Where clinically appropriate, patients may also be referred for:

Many patients are surprised to learn that osteopaths in New Zealand are primary healthcare practitioners and can therefore help coordinate much of the early assessment and management process for musculoskeletal injuries.
A Different Philosophy Around Treatment
Movement Mechanics was never built around maximising appointment volume.
The clinic philosophy has always centred around delivering thoughtful, evidence-informed musculoskeletal care with a strong focus on:

For some people, this means only a small number of appointments.
Others dealing with more chronic tendon or overload-related conditions may require a longer rehabilitation process involving osteopathy, shockwave therapy, high-power laser therapy and progressive loading strategies over time.
The emphasis is always on clinical appropriateness rather than creating dependency on ongoing passive treatment.
Cancellation Policy
Appointments cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled consultation time may incur the full private consultation fee.
This policy exists to protect appointment availability for other patients requiring care and to allow sufficient time for rescheduling.
If you are unwell or unable to attend due to illness, please contact the clinic as early as possible to discuss available options.
How ACC works
You may be eligible for ACC-subsidised treatment if you have suffered an accident or injury in the last 12 months. ACC provides a comprehensive, no-fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors to New Zealand. Please note that in most cases, ACC does not cover Shockwave therapy as a stand-alone treatment.
Once your claim is approved, ACC provides various support services in addition to subsidising your treatment for your injury, from transportation to help with cleaning your home. For more information, please visit www.acc.co.nz. All of our Osteopaths are ACC registered and can submit an injury claim to ACC without the need for you to see your GP.
If we need to refer you for further clinical assessment, such as X-rays, Ultrasounds, or a Specialist visit. ACC will usually cover part or all of this cost, depending on the clinic that you visit.
