ACC Osteopath Auckland
ACC subsidised osteopathic care designed to help you move forward after injury.
Experiencing an injury can be disruptive enough without trying to navigate the ACC system on your own.
At Movement Mechanics Osteopathy, we aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.
As ACC-registered osteopaths, we can assess eligible injuries, lodge new ACC claims where appropriate and provide subsidised osteopathic treatment to support your recovery. Whether you’ve recently injured yourself at work, during sport, at home or through everyday activities, our team can help guide you through the next steps.
Located within Bays Health in Browns Bay, we regularly work with patients from across Auckland’s North Shore who are seeking a more integrated approach to injury management and rehabilitation.
What Injuries Can ACC Help Cover?
ACC may provide support for a wide range of accidental injuries, including those sustained:
-
during sport or exercise
-
at work
-
through slips, trips and falls
-
while lifting or carrying
-
during recreational activities
-
through sudden movements resulting in injury
The role of osteopathy is to assess how the injury affects your ability to move, function, and participate in the activities that matter to you, while helping to guide the recovery process moving forward.

What To Expect During Your Appointment
Every injury presents differently.
Some people seek care within days of an incident occurring. Others present weeks later after symptoms have failed to improve as expected.
Your consultation may include:
-
a detailed discussion about how the injury occurred
-
assessment of the affected region
-
screening for factors influencing recovery
-
treatment where appropriate
-
rehabilitation advice and education
-
guidance regarding return to work, exercise or activity
If additional investigations or referral pathways are required, these can be discussed as part of your management plan.

ACC Osteopathy At Movement Mechanics
At Movement Mechanics, osteopathic treatment is approached through a contemporary musculoskeletal framework.
Rather than focusing solely on symptom location, appointments consider the broader impact the injury may be having on movement, physical confidence, daily activities and participation in sport or work.
Depending on the presentation, management may involve hands-on osteopathic treatment, rehabilitation strategies, Western Medical Acupuncture, or education aimed at supporting a safe and progressive return to activity.
The emphasis is on helping people regain momentum following injury and reducing the likelihood of persistent problems developing over time.

A Different Approach To Shockwave Therapy & High Power Laser Therapy
ACC currently does not subsidise shockwave therapy or high-power laser therapy.
However, one of the things that sets Movement Mechanics apart is the way these technologies are integrated into care when clinically appropriate.
If you are undergoing shockwave therapy or high-power laser therapy and osteopathic treatment is indicated as part of your management, this is incorporated within the same appointment at no additional osteopathic consultation fee.
There is no requirement to arrange a separate osteopathy appointment to receive integrated care.
This allows treatment approaches to evolve alongside your recovery while helping reduce unnecessary appointments and ensuring management remains coordinated around your individual presentation.
For many patients, this creates a more seamless rehabilitation experience compared with accessing each component of care separately.
